Three held for copper coil theft in Thane

Thane police today claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in stealing copper coils from transformers, which caused frequent power failure to households and industries, by arresting three of its members.
A total 355 kg of stolen copper coils valued at around Rs 1.66 lakhs were seized from their possession, Thane District Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rajesh Pradhan said.
The three nabbed from Mharal on Titwala-Govili road in Thane have been identified as Mohamad Ismail Vazid Ali Khan (24), Abdul Mobin Tayaballi Samabi (25) and Avdesh Shivkaran Gautam (25), all residents of Pelhar in Nalla Sopara, he said.
As many as a dozen cases of transformer coil theft in Kalyan, Murbad, Satpati, Sahapur, Wada and Padhga have been resolved with the arrest of the trio, police said.
