Three held for running interstate drug cartel

Three people who were allegedly running an inter-state drug cartel were arrested and 5 kg of heroin estimated to be worth more than Rs 20 crore was seized from them in outer Delhi, police said today.
The arrested have been identified as Ram Nath (26), Virender Pal Singh (29) and Parvej khan (64), all residents of Budaun in Uttar Pradesh.
On February 13, the Special Cell of the Delhi police received a tip off about two of the accused coming to Bhagwan Mahavir Marg in outer Delhi to deliver a huge consignment of drugs to a city-based drug dealer, a senior police officer said.
Accordingly, a trap was laid and a Bolero car was spotted on the road going towards Barwala-Prahladpur. The car was stopped. The occupants first resisted and tried to escape but were apprehended. Police recovered 4 kg heroin from their possession.
A case has been registered and a team has been sent to Bareilly and Badaun to search the persons whose names were disclosed by the arrested during interrogation, the officer said.
Later on February 17, kingpin Parvez Khan was arrested from his village in Badaun and another one kg of heroin was recovered from his possession.

Singh had joined the illegal trade to become rich fast and using contacts in West Bengal and Manipur from where he used to get heroin (both in pure as well as in crude form) supplied it in Delhi, UP and Uttarakand (especially in Haridwar and Dehradun) with his co-accused.
