Three teenagers today drowned in the Sone River near Bhitari village in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, a senior police official said.
Two of those who drowned were siblings, the official added.
"The incident occurred at 9am today. The three teenagers and their family members had gone to the Sone river for a bath as part of a marriage-related ritual," said Sidhi Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suryakant Sharma.
He identified the three who drowned as Ashish Yadav (18), Akash Yadav (16) and Sachin Yadav (12).
Akash and Ashish were siblings, he informed.
"Sachin started drowning and Ashish and Akash, along with another youth named Ravi Yadav, jumped into the river to save Sachin," he said.
While Ravi Yadav (15) was saved by villagers, the other three drowned, Sharma informed.
