Police said the trouble broke out when some 'Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai' cadres noticed a few two-wheelers, parked on the roadside, blocking the way to the office of their leader and MLA, U Thaniyarasu and reportedly shifted them, causing damage.
Even as an argument ensued between the medical representatives, who owned the vehicles and workers, some persons came in a car with weapons like sickles and sticks and started attacking them besides passers-by, police said.
City Police Commissioner A K Vishwanathan and Deputy Commissioner Ramya Bharathi visited the spot and adequate police personnel have been deployed.
