A tiger which had strayed into the forest at Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, today injured three tribal people during a hunting festival, official sources said.
The tiger attacked and injured the three tribals at Bagghora forests, District Magistrate Jagdish Prasad Meena said.
He said the tribal people had gone to the forest to participate in their festival when they hunt rabbits, wild boars etc.
All the three injured were residents of Buxiganj village and admitted to hospital, he said.
The tiger had strayed into the forest about a month back possibly from neighbouring Odisha, forest department sources had said.
The camera traps installed by the forest department had captured the image of a tiger in the early hours of March 2, the sources said.
Traps were placed to capture the straying big cat but yielded no result so far, the sources said.
