The Fire Services received a call about the blast in the large steel oven of the bakery situated at Aflatoon Market at received around 5.20 am, said a Delhi Fire Service officer.
The police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and started rescuing the workers who were lying injured on the first floor of the building where the oven was kept.
Police rushed six workers to the Hedgewar hospital where three were declared dead by the doctors. Three others were admitted for treatment of injuries inflicted by the metal pieces.
Two other workers Afsar and Irfan were also injured in the blast of the oven. All the workers hailed from Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The oven measuring about 5X5 foot suspectedly blasted either due to malfunction or due to overheating, police and fire officials said.
"As the oven blasted, metal pieces including iron bars shoot out like bullets and hit the workers who were baking items there. There was no fire as it was an electric oven but the fatal injuries were caused by the sharp edged metal pieces," said the Delhi Fire Service officer.
