Three members of the Maoist 'Triple K' squad surrendered before the police here today.
They were motivated by social welfare schemes run by the Maharashtra police department, under the government's new surrender policy for Maoists, sources said.
'Jalher' alias Dalsuram Parasram Kachlam (21), a resident of Navezhari in Korchi tehsil of Gadchiroli; 'Rishi' alias Sukhlal Tulsiram Parsu (20), a resident of Mayalghat; and Kashiram Eitu Koretti, a resident of Tirkhuri in Arjuni Morgaon tehsil of Gondia district, surrendered before the Gondia District Superintendent of Police Shashi Kumar Meena today.
The surrendered Maoists were active in Darekasa, Deori as well as Korchi-Kurkheda-Khobramenda (Triple-K), besides Maoist People's Liberation Guerrilla Army Platoon Number 55 under the North Gadchiroli Gondia Division.
They were allegedly involved in a number of incidents including ambushes, setting fire to road roller on the Piperkhari-Sukdi Road and village panchayat buildings of Missipirri and Toyogondi, as well as damaging a BSNL tower in Jamakudo between 2010 and 2013.
Rishi has confessed to have played a role in a landmine blast in Donagagrh (CG) and killing of a police informer in 2004.

Meena has appealed to other Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream of development.
He said that the government has drawn up "attractive" schemes as part of its new rehabilitate package for surrendered Maoists.
It is the first surrender by Maoists this year. The last surrender was on April 17, 2013. So far, 18 Maoists have surrendered after formation of an independent Gondia district in 1999.
