The Delhi Police Tuesday claimed to have solved 28 cases of snatching and theft registered across the city after they arrested three men from northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area.

The three men were identified as Saddam Hussain (25), Sahil (20) and Virender (30), they said.

Police said Mohammad Azruddin (34), a manager at a wine shop in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri, lodged a complaint in which he alleged that he was robbed on May 2 by a gang of four men.

The incident took place when he along with his colleague were going on a scooter to deliver cash to their employer at Kohat Enclave. Their vehicle was hit by four motorcycle-borne men at Mukarba Chowk.

"The men took away the scooter after threatening him and his colleague with a knife and a pistol. The other two men escaped on their motorcycles," a senior police officer said.

Before leaving the shop, Azruddin had kept Rs 1,67,730 in the scooter which the men took away, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Vijayanta Arya said.

A case was registered and an investigation was initiated, she said.

Acting on a tip off, Hussain was arrested from Jahangirpuri area on August 8, the officer said.

His accomplices, Sahil and Virender were also arrested later while efforts are on to nab the remaining accused, the officer added.

Hussain was also involved in various cases of robbery and snatching along with his associates. Sahil was involved in four cases while Virender was found to be involved in thirty eight criminal cases of robbery and car-jacking, police said.

Two country made pistols along with two live cartridges, two stolen scooters, one Apple I-watch, Rs 5300 cash and five stolen mobile phones were recovered from them, police added.
