The three gang members -- Shokin alias Langda, Imran and Arif, who were arrested yesterday, are from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.
"On an information that two auto lifters of the gang would be going to Sangam Vihar from Gurgaon via M B Road, a trap was laid near Lado Sarai bus stop and Shokin and Imran were arrested after a brief chase," South District DCP Chhaya Sharma said.
Following their interrogation, the third gang member, Arif, was arrested from a rented house at Sangam Vihar. Police also recovered 15 stolen motorcycles, lock breaking tools, a country made pistol and a knife from them.
The trio confessed that they were members of Mewati gang, which is active in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
After stealing motorcycles, they used to send them to Mewat in Haryana where they were sold at a very nominal price, police said,
With their arrest, police claimed to have solved 25 cases of motorcycle theft.
