The three NCP MLAs, Imtilemba Sangtam, Dr T M Lotha and Mmhonlumo Kikon, had switched sides to the BJP on June 16 last claiming to have fulfilled all the laid down provisions under the Tenth Schedule of the Anti-Defection Law of the Constitution.
The first hearing was held yesterday, but the court deferred its judgement as the counsels for the respondents sought permission of a few days to reply to the points submitted by the advocate of the plaintiffs.
Meanwhile, senior Supreme Court lawyer and ex-MP Satya Pal Jain, who represented the three MLAs, termed the Assembly Speaker's decision as "unconstitutional" and challenged the disqualification order issued on August 25.
