Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Bashkobrapara on National High way 44 and waited for a blue van on Saturday and after waiting for about half-an hour they spotted the van and tried to stop it, but the driver speeded up the vehicle.

Police chased the van and after 20 minutes they found the van was trapped in a muddy road at Khudapara but there was no one inside the vehicle.

During search operations, the police arrested three persons from a house in the area and recovered Rs 25 lakh from their possession.

Police said the arrested persons were identified as Bishu Koloi and Dhanu Koloi and the woman was Rathashree Koloi and on primary interrogation they revealed to police that one insurgent had handed over the money to them for handing over to NLFT supremo, Biswamohan Debbarma, who is now camping in Bangladesh.

Police also recovered one pendrive and some counter foils of notices served to five travel agencies for giving them subscription.

The ultras also revealed that the money was meant for buying arms and training the newly recruited insurgents.

A local court ordered seven days police remand to the arrested insurgents.
