Three members of a family were killed and one other critically injured after a major fire broke out early this morning in their three-storey house in neighbouring Bundi district, police said.
Laadbai Jain (45) along with her children -- Kapil (27) and Priyanka (21) was charred to death while her husband Komal Jain (52) sustained around 90 per cent burns in the incident at Kanwar town in the district, Nainwa range DSP Mahendra Kumar Meghwansi said.
Komal was rushed to Maharao Bheem Singh hospital in Kota where his condition is stated to be critical, he said.
The victims were asleep when some crackers kept on the ground floor caught fire, most likely due to a short circuit, the DSP said.
The entire building was engulfed in flames after which the third floor collapsed, killing three persons sleeping there, Meghwansi said.
The bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem, he said.
According to the eyewitnesses, spirals of smoke were noticed springing out of the building early this morning following which police and fire control were informed.
