Three persons, including a cyclist, were killed after a speeding truck crushed them under its wheels at a traffic signal in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur area, police said today.
The three victims were waiting at the traffic signal when they were mowed down by the speeding truck last night whose driver fled the accident spot leaving behind the vehicle, the police said.
The deceased were identified as Raj Bahadur (19), Hari Om (23) and Ram Mohan (33), police said.
While Raj Bahadur and Hari Om were neighbours and lived in Nehru Vihar in northeast Delhi, Ram Mohan, a milkman, lived with his family in Kartan Nagar J-block.
Raj Bahadur and Hari worked as salesmen at a saree showroom in Chandni Chowk, police said.
Last evening Raj and Hari were returning home after work when the former learnt that his sister was admitted in Jag Pravesh Chand hospital. The two then went to the hospital, police said.

"The two were on their way back home from hospital when they stopped at the traffic signal. Ram Mohan was also waiting for green signal on his bicycle when a speeding truck heading towards Khajoori Chowk from Shastri Park side crushed them," a police officer said.
According to eyewitnesses, the body of one of the three victims got stuck under the truck and was dragged to some 20-30 meters due to which the body was badly crushed.
Agitated over the three deaths, locals gathered at the accident spot and blocked traffic for some time, police said and added that they also tried to vandalise the truck by throwing stones at it.
A case was registered and the truck was confiscated, police said.
