Three persons killed in lightning strike in Katihar

Three persons, including two minors, were electrocuted while two other minors stustained burn injuries in a lightning strike in two separate villages of Katihar district of Bihar today.
Barsoi Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Firoz Akhtar said that one Gautam Nonia (20) was killed in a lightning strike when he stepped out of his house this morning.
Nonia was the resident of Chaudi village of Barsoi police station area.
In a separate incident, two minors were electrocuted and two other minors received burn injuries in a lightning strike when these children were playing in a bamboo bush of at Kadamgachi village of the same police station, he added.

The deceased has been identified as Chirag Alam (08) and Mohammad Sahil (11) while those who received burn injuries are Sifat Parveen (08) and Mohammad Hakim (10), the SDO said.
The injured children were being treated at a local hospital, the SDO said.
The next of the kin of the victims of the lightning strike will be given Rs 4 lakh each as gratia, he said.
Those who died in the lightning strike were the children of farm labourers.
