Three policemen booked for murder

Three policemen were today booked for murder and entire staff of a police post were placed under suspension after a man, who was taken into custody was found dead near railway tracks here.
Body of Ram Kumar (24) was recovered on the rail tracks near the Ambala Cantt railway station this morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinod Kaushik said that on the complaint of the deceased's father, a case under Section 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed), 342 (wrongfully confining any person) of the IPC had been registered against the in-charge of police post No 2 and two other police officials.
He also said that the entire staff of the police post No 2 had been placed under suspension.
The father of the deceased Babu Ram, who is a labourer, alleged that the police had taken away his son and another youth Vikram for some investigation last evening.
He alleged that they were kept in illegal custody as no case was registered against them. Vikram was also missing so far.

Babu Ram said, this morning he received information that the body of his son was found lying on the tracks, near the Cantt railway station.
"I immediately rushed there and found that an iron chain was tied on a leg of my son, which indicates that he was tortured in police custody," he alleged.
Police, however, said that the youths had escaped from the police custody while the relatives of the deceased dismissed this theory.
The residents of Ravi Dass Basti today gheroed the police post No 2 for allegedly keeping a youth of their locality in illegal confinement.
The Mayor of Ambala Municipal Corporation, Ramesh Mal,also joined the agitated crowd and sat on a dharna in front of the police post.
After the assurance of compensation and probe into the matter by the Deputy Commissioner, the agitated crowd dispersed and ended their protest.
