Special Judge, Fast Track Court Ambala, Vimlesh Tanwar also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each on the convicts Santosh, Mangal and Ashok.
According to prosecution, Balram, a resident of Ambala City had filed a complaint with the police that on March 27, 2009 some robbers entered the house and attacked them with sharp weapons and took away the jewellery and cash.
Balram, his son Rinku and a few other relatives were injured in the attack, police said.
Rinku was referred to PGIMER at Chandigarh following his serious condition where he succumbed to his injuries on March 30, 2009.

During the investigation the police arrested Santosh, Rajesh, Ghanshyam, Ashok, Mangal, Lakshman, Kalia, Jeevan, Chaman and Lakhan stated to be members of a gang involved in the attack.
Seven of the accused managed to flee from the custody of Kurukshetra police and were later declared as proclaimed offenders by the court.
The three convicts who were sentenced to life term were lodged in Kurukshetra Jail at present, police added.
