Three sentenced to jail term for negligent driving

A local court has sentenced three men to jail terms for rash and negligent driving which left two persons dead in separate cases in Baramulla district.
Judicial Magistrate Pattan pronounced the sentence to the drivers who were convicted for rash and negligent driving in different accidents in Pattan between 1999 and 2006, a police spokesman said today.
Mohammad Sultan Khan, a resident of Palhallan, was sentenced to two years of imprisonment for rash and negligent driving which led to the death of a man.
While Farooq Ahmad Nath, a truck driver from Srinagar, was awarded two years and six months imprisonment in a case registered against him in 2006 following death of a pedestrian.
In another case, driver Habibullah Zargar of Pattan was awarded six months imprisonment in a case registered against him in 2006, the spokesman said.
All the accused have been taken into custody in open court yesterday and have been sent to District Jail Baramulla to undergo the sentence.
