Three teenagers drown in Yamuna while bathing

Three teenagers today drowned in the Yamuna here, while one who jumped into the river along with them was still missing, even as another was rescued, police said today.
The incident occurred near near Chhari village falling under Mant police station of the district during a 'Kalash Visarjan' ceremony when the five teenagers jumped into the river to take a bath, officials said.
Unaware of the level of water in the river, all the five cried for help as they started drowning. However, the locals present near the spot succeeded in saving only one of them, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjai Kumar said.
"While one of them was rescued immediately, the body of three others were fished out," he said.
The deceased have been identified as Hitendra (17), Rakesh (18) and Yogendra Pal (18), all residents of village Chhari, the DSP said.
He said the fifth youth, Vakil (18), could not be traced even after eight hours of continuous efforts by expert drivers who were pressed into service.
The search would continue tomorrow, he said.
