The three temples, situated in North Kerala, were set up by noted social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.

Sree Sundreswara Temple at Talap in Kannur, Jaganatha Temple at Thalassery and Sree Kandeswara Temple in Kozhikode would be managed by independent committees, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.

A decision in this regard was taken in view of complaints that difficulties were faced for smooth functioning of the temples, he said.

On other cabinet decisions, Chandy said an amount of Rs three lakh each would be given to the families of six people killed in the recent landslip at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district.

Government would also provide land and construct houses for those who had lost them. Treatment expenses of two persons who were seriously injured in the natural calamity, would be borne by the government, he said.
