The gang usually targeted women, mostly middle-aged and old ladies, a police spokesman said.
Five members of the gang, including three women, were arrested from Ambala when they were about to carry out another loot using same modus operandi.
A knife, a sword and iron roads were recovered from them.
The arrested confessed to having committed 12 incidents of crime in Ambala district during the past few months.
The police had received information that the gang was planning to commit incidents of loot in Ambala, following which a raid was conducted.
