Three youths involved in vehicle theft cases arrested

Three youths allegedly involved in around 50 vehicle theft cases were arrested in west Delhi, police said today.
Surender Singh (26), Mahender Singh (22) and Dhanna Singh (36) were apprehended in the past week and 11 stolen motorcycles recovered from them, V Renganathan, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), said.
All of them belong to Bharatpur district in Rajasthan.
"A specific crime pattern was observed, which revealed theft of motorcycles in the early morning hours between 3.00 AM and 5.00 AM. CCTV footage of cameras installed in the affected areas was scrutinised and three persons were found roaming around suspiciously in that particular area.
"Police personnel were deployed in plain clothes at vulnerable points. Surender and Mahender were arrested from Delhi on June one along with one stolen motorcycle," Renganathan said.
They told police that they had stolen over 50 motorcycles from Kirti Nagar and adjoining areas. They used to come by bus from Rajasthan to Delhi in a group of two or three and used to stay with a friend Satender, he said.

"They used to steal motorcycles by using master key, change the number plates and return to Rajasthan, along with 2/3 stolen motorcycles. They also disclosed that they used to dispose off the stolen motorcycles through one Atma Singh.
"Their associate Dhanna made duplicate key and tampered with the engine and chassis numbers of the motorcycle," he said.
On this information, a team headed comprising 50 personnel from West District raided the hideouts of Atma Singh and Dhanna Singh located in Mewat region. The team recovered 10 more motorcycles and arrested Dhanna Singh.
Search for Atma Singh is continuing.
