To commemorate the 60th anniversary of first human ascent to Mt Everest, about 100 amateur mountaineers are expected to take part in climbing expeditions and mountain hiking during a 11-day event in Tibet.
The Tibetan Mountaineering Assembly will organise the event from September 26 to October 7 this year.
They can choose to climb Mount Qizi, Mount Qizi II or just experience mountain hiking, said Nyima Tsering, deputy director of Tibet's Sports Bureau and chief of the assembly.
Renowned mountaineers including those who have conquered world's all 14 mountains higher than 8,000 meters will be invited to communicate with the climbers, state-run Xinhua quoted him saying.
Moreover, fans this year will have a opportunity to condition themselves to high altitude at the Lake Namsto, which lies at an elevation of 4,700 meters and is the largest lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
Mount Qizi, 6,206 meters high, and Mount Qizi II, 5,900 meters high, are located about 90 kilometres away from Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
