With stability returning in Egypt, the bilateral ties between New Delhi and Cairo will strengthen as the two countries will see more development in coming months, an Indian diplomat has said.
"After the election of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the return of relative stability to Egypt, we again see a great interest from businessmen from the side of Indian community and the government to pick up the momentum in terms of our relationship and hopefully we will see more developments in the coming months," India's Ambassador to Egypt Navdeep Suri said here yesterday.
The Ambassador's remarks came during a reception organised by the Indian Embassy in Cairo to celebrate the 66th Republic Day.
A high profile delegation from India will come to Egypt to take part in the economic conference that will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, a city located on southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, next March, the ambassador said.
As for culture relations, Suri said that big surprises are on their way for Indian culture lovers as the Embassy is preparing for the third edition of the 'India by the Nile Festival'.
"In March and April from every year we organise the cultural festival 'India by the Nile' and this year, hopefully, we'll bring you an even bigger festival, India by the Nile 3rd edition," the Ambassador said.
Both countries have been paying special attention to the bilateral relationship, he said, adding, "over the last few months we have seen meetings of the joint committee for defence, trade, science and technology and joint meeting between the Indian and the Egyptian foreign ministries".
The reception was attended by high profile officials, businessmen, political leaders, diplomats and media people.
The ambassador also asked the attendees to observe a brief moment of silence to show respect for the late Saudi king Abdullah, who passed away last Friday.
