Tiger kills forest worker in Tadoba Reserve

A 45-year-old staff at the Tadoba Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra was today killed by a tiger, forest officials said.
The incident took place at around 6 AM in (forest) compartment 91 near Tadoba lake. The wild cat attacked the victim--who was on duty in the forest camp--when he went to attend nature's call, they said.
The deceased identified as Mangaldas Tanbaji Chaudhary was employed with the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) as a fire-watcher.
According to Chaudhary's colleagues, he wasdragged by the tiger and killed on the spot. Subsequently, they alerted the concerned authorities on wireless.
"There are 4-5 tigers in that vicinity and assessment of the same is underway via camera traps installed in the area," said Field Director, Tadoba Tiger Reserve, G P Garad.
The body has been sent for post mortem, he said. Further details are awaited.
