A tiger, which was on prowl since August 15 and has killed four persons, was today caught and sent to the Lucknow zoo.
The big cat, which was believed to have come from Mailani range under south Kheri forest division, was located and tranquilised in the forests near Chhedipur village.
Tranquilising experts including Utkarsh Shukla, Deputy Director of Lucknow zoo, Prem Chandra Pandey and Mayukh Chatterjee of Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) approached the tiger on elephants and tranquilised it with darts.
It was later brought for inspection by senior forest authorities. The big cat, found to be male, was later sent to the Lucknow zoo and lodged in a cage.
On August 15, the tiger killed a 14-year girl in Suabojh beat jungles and made three more persons its prey on August 19, August 20 and August 28.
Following the last killing, the forest department declared the big cat to be a man-eater and ordered that it be shot.
