The Lusofonia Games is one of the biggest international sporting events the state will witness and for the benefit of the visiting players, international delegates from the 12 Lusophonian countries, officials and spectators, Goa police have decided to leave no stone unturned.
"Planned along the lines of major international sporting events, the state police along with Lusofonia Games Organising Committee (LUGOC) has put together measures to ensure that the Games go on without a hitch," Keshav Chandra, CEO of Lusofonia Games told the media.
Goa will be hosting the Portuguese Commonwealth Games in nine disciplines with participation from 12 countries.
The participating countries are Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Macau (China), Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Sri Lanka and the host nation Goa (India).
The third Lusofonia Games will be held over a period of 12 days from January 18 to 29, 2014 and will see participation from over 1,500 athletes and officials from 12 nations.
