Tight security provided at 'Junglemahal' ahead of polling day
Press Trust of India Kolkata To build up confidence of voters in the Maoist-affected 'Junglemahal' area of West Bengal where 18 seats will go to polls tomorrow, layers of security have been provided with helicopters making regular sorties and central forces doing march past.
Election Commission officials said complete security arrangements have been made by them.
"Sorties are going on by two helicopters in the area. Forces have taken up their position and are doing march past as part of confidence-building measure. We want voters to come out in large numbers tomorrow," officials said.
The multi-layered security ring is a combination of both Central and state forces.
To respond to an medical emergency situation, the poll watchdog has also kept an air ambulance on stand-by.
