Tight supply pushes up wheat prices

Wheat prices today inched higher by Rs 20 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market following restricted supplies from producing belts against increased offtake by flour mills.
Traders said besides tight supplies from producing regions, pick up in demand from flour mills mainly led to the rise in wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,535-1,540 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,550-1,555 per 90 kg.
