Maadan, along with some Anti-Poaching Squad members, were on morning rounds in the forest, when they came across a tigress with a cub near a bush.
When they tried to leave the place without disturbing the animal, it suddenly pounced on Maadan and attacked him.
As others raised their voice, the tigress lifted the cub and went into the forests.
Heavily bleeding Maadan was immediately rushed to a hospital at Gudalur, about 70 kms from here, officials said.
