A team of personnel from the state forest department spotted the carcass at an agricultural field near Garra village during routine patrolling on Friday evening. They later informed the senior officials about it.
"The carcass of the tigress was found in the forest near Garra village, bordering with Maharashtra," Chief Conservator of Forest (Balaghat) Dhirendra Bhargava said.
"The exact cause of the carnivore's death will be clear only after we get the autopsy report," he said.
Notably, the state witnessed the highest number of feline deaths last year, when it lost 33 big cats.
