After his controversial election to the ICC Cricket Committee, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan today said he would bring in fresh ideas to take the sport forward and added that his predecessor Tim May has done his bit.
Tony Irish, who is on the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations, had alleged that it was BCCI that used its financial might to exert pressure on the ICC member boards and coerce their captains to vote for Sivaramakrishnan.
The former India spinner, though, said the change was good for world cricket.
"I have beaten Tim May (in voting). Tim May is there for a while, so he has made contributions and there comes the point when over a period of time, you make your points felt and then you run out of ideas.
"I think me getting into the committee would bring in fresh set of ideas and I am sure I will be able to cope up with the job in the next three years and I will take world cricket forward," Sivaramakrishnan told 'Times Now'.
Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara and Sivaramakrishnan were elected by a vote of the 10 Test captains as players' representatives and will serve on the Cricket Committee for a three-year term from 2013.
