Taking a dig at BJP over the rising prices of pulses, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jitin Prasada today said time has come to hold 'Daal par Charcha.'
In a jibe at BJP's 'Chai par charcha' campaign, Prasada, while talking to the reporters in Haridaspur village, said, "Time has come now to hold Daal Par Charcha."
He was visiting the village to offer his condolences to the family of slain Sub Inspector Manoj Mishra who was shot dead by alleged cattle smugglers last month.
Prasada sharply attacked the Central government over the soaring prices of pulses and the rising inflation.
"The government was well aware that production of pulses was due to fall yet it failed to import the same, particularly 'arhar' in time which resulted in record high price of Arhar Rs 200 per kg," Prasada said.
Scorning Centre's agro policy, he said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his electoral campaign had said I will not eat nor I would allow others to eat. I feel now that this might have been expressed in reference of Arhar pulse.

"How astonishing is that Arhar pulse is cheaper in Sri Lanka and Nepal but costlier in India, making the lives of common people miserable," he said.
The former union minister also attacked Uttar Pradesh government and alleged that it had failed to give justice to the family members of Manoj Mishra who had laid down his life on duty.
Prasada demanded that the state government take cognizance of the demands of Mishra's family and order a CBI probe besides extending immediate financial relief to his young wife and children.
