Timely justice is an essential component of good governance, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said while stressing that it is necessary to remove people's fear of institutions of the law.
"While police stations, courts and hospitals had been established for the convenience of the people, they are afraid to visit these establishments," the governor said here while speaking at the closing session of the two-day national conference on 'Neo Challenges in Litigations - Role of the State'.
To ensure good governance, it is necessary to remove that fear so that people may avail these facilities, Solanki said.
"Timely justice is an essential component of good governance and it is the duty of every person who holds special authority and position to ensure that timely justice is meted out to every person," an official release quoted him as saying.
During the two-day conference, discussions were held on emerging challenges in litigation and how the state could tackle these, enactment of new laws and amendment of existing laws, relevance of setting up of quasi-judicial authorities, existing state litigation policies and their effectiveness in tackling the present and upcoming challenges of litigation, besides methods to curb state litigation in the courts.
Discussion was also held on role of technology, coordination between the legal and other departments of the state and the necessity of the establishing a pre-litigation alternative dispute redressal mechanism for the state for curbing litigation.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had also shared his concern "about the unwanted and unnecessary litigation of the state" and had exhorted the stakeholders to minimise such cases.
