Tin, nickel weaken on sustained selling
Press Trust of India Mumbai Tin and nickel prices weakened further in an otherwise dull non-ferrous metal market here today on poor industrial offtake as well as sustained stockist selling driven by bearish global cues.
Elsewhere, select copper, brass and zinc also moved down owing to lower offtake from consumer industries.
On the global front, the industrial metal copper gained slightly in early trade at the LME, while nickel fell to new six-year lows.
Tin slumped by Rs 20 per kg to Rs 1,330 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 1,350 and nickel dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 950 from Rs 955.
Copper cable scrap, copper armiture, copper wire bar, copper sheet cutting, brass utensils scrap and zinc all softened by a Re per kg to Rs 443, Rs 429, Rs 463, Rs 424, Rs 319 and Rs 170 respectively.
However, brass sheet cutting inched up by a Re per kg to Rs 328.
