The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam festivals of Lord Venkateswara at nearby Tirumala will begin on September 26, a top official said today.
"The most auspicious Garudaseva procession of the Brahmotsavam will take place on the fifth day of the sacred mega spectacle on September 30," TTD Executive Officer M G Gopal told reporters here today.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would visit the temple and offer a set of new silk clothes on behalf of the state government on the day of commencement of the Brahmotsavam, he said.
Temple sources told PTI that Naidu,in his capacity as CM would be taking part in presentation of silk cloths to Lord Venkateswara after a 10 year gap when he was out of power.
Naidu who earlier had ruled Andhra Pradesh for nine years missed an opportunity of offering silk cloths to the Lord on Oct 1, 2003 when he escaped an attempt on his life when suspected PWG Naxalites triggered landmines as he was going to the famous hill shrine to take part in the Brahmotsavam, the sources said.
