Railway Board chairman Arunendra Kumar has inaugurated a modern Food Plaza developed by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) at Tirupati railway station.
A host of catering facilities are made available to the travelling public, including a cafeteria with quick service facility, air conditioned vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants, takeaway counter, fruit/fruit juice counter, and ice cream/cool drink counters.
The food plaza is provided with the state-of-the-art equipment and modern furniture to meet growing expectations of the rail users and care has been taken to comply with food safety standards.
Currently, there are 21 food plazas and fast food units in various stations over South Central Railway and action has been initiated to set up another 10 such units shortly.
Kumar, who inaugurated the facility on April 2, said, "this food plaza is a part of the continual efforts of railways to provide hygienic, qualitative and affordable food to the rail users," an SCR release issued here today quoted him as saying.
