The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) today issued notification in this regard for holding polls in 30 constituencies spread across Nagaon and Morigaon districts.
"Out of the 36 seats, polls will not take place in six constituencies due to the agitation.
"A section of tribal people are demanding these six seats for exclusion from the council as they claim that less than 10 per cent Tiwas reside in these areas," Assam State Election Commissioner H N Bora told reporters here.
"In the first election of the Council in 2010 also, polls were not conducted in these six seats.

At present, we are ready with the draft electoral roll of these six constituencies," Bora said.
Giving detail of the schedule, he said the last date of filing of nomination is July 29 and the same will be scrutinised next day.
The last day for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on August 1 and the polls will take place on August 19.
