"Allegations against us (TMC) of harbouring anti-socials is baseless. Who knows better than Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee how CPI-M ruled the state totally with the help muscle power," senior TMC parliamentary party leader in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay said.

"I am eight-time time winner in parliamentary and assembly elections. I have seen what type of anti-socials dominated the whole of city of Kolkata and elsewhere in the state," he told PTI here.

CPI(M), he said, has become impatient after being out of power and "is trying to foment trouble in the state".

Earlier in the day, Bhattacharjee alleged that there was "an environment of fear" in the state with activities of miscreants and anti-social elements on the rise and no development 'worth the name' since LF was voted out of power.

The law and order had worsened to the extent that women were in a state of panic with reports of molestation and assault by anti-socials pouring in from districts almost everyday and the administration remaining passive, he told a rally at neighbouring Rajarhat.

Calling for a strong mass protest, he alleged that TMC was "encouraging lumpens and anti-social elements so much so that miscreants were feeling safe under it".

He also charged the government with failing to move an inch forward either in agriculture or industry due to the inept administration.

"False promises are still being given almost daily about employment and development which are just bogus."
