There were 48 toll plazas in the state. Of this rates for 28 were proposed to be increased from April, he told reporters here.
He urged the state and central governments to reduce the toll charges by 60 per cent.
Stating that government had acquired 2,400 acres for the Salem Steel Plant here, he said only 400 acres had been put to use and the remaining should be alloted for setting up small scale industries.
On the demand for prohibition, he said most of the people in the state wanted liquor to be banned and they would lose faith in the government if it did not meet their wish.
