"This is a conspiracy against the students. All student communities should come together to fight it. Our MP has sought an appointment with the PM with whom the issue will be raised," a top Trinamool Congress leader said.
The leader claimed that the Centre had bypassed all rules to make Aadhaar mandatory for getting government scholarships and setting August 31 as the deadline for it.
"SC, ST and all minorities will be affected like Christians, Muslims, Jains, Nepali speaking people, etc," the leader said.
He said direct beneficiary transfer was being done in the Kanyashree scheme of the West Bengal government.
"Our direct beneficiary scheme can be merged with Aadhaar card," the leader said, adding the issue was also creating a law and order problem in the state.
