TMC student wing wants VC-level committee to clear educational

In the wake of 25 engineering students being washed away by Beas river in Himachal Pradesh, the student wing of Trinamool Congress today demanded setting up of a Vice Chancellor-level committee in each university to monitor and clear all educational tours.
"It (the accident) is an extremely sad news. But, there is an issue of accountability and responsibility. Hence, we have demanded setting up of VC-level committee by universities that will monitor and clear tours conducted by colleges and universities," Trinamool Chattra Parishad (TMCP) President Shankudeb Panda said today.
TMCP will organise condolence meetings across colleges of the state and step up political pressure against the Centre for the tragedy was a failure of the central government administration.

So far, rescuers had fished out bodies of five engineering students from Hyderabad who were washed away in the swirling waters of Beas river along with 20 classmates whose fate is not known.
They were washed away last evening when taking photographs on the river banks as the water in it river suddenly increased due to release from the reservoir of 126 MW Larji hydropower project.
