TMC to seek legal opinion on disqualifying four corporators

The general body of the Thane Municipal Corporation today decided to seek legal opinion on the disqualification of four corporators who had been arrested in the builder Suraj Parmar case.
After a chargesheet was filed against them for abetment of suicide, the state Government had directed the TMC administration to take steps to disqualify them.
The issue of disqualification of Najeeb Mulla and Hanumant Jagdale of the NCP, Vikrant Chavan of Congress and Sudhakar Chavan of MNS was placed before the general body by the civic administration today.
NCP corporator Ameet Saraiya raised objection that the matter was sub-judice and the corporators cannot take decision on the same when matter was in the court.

The leader of opposition Sanjay Bhoir (NCP) and Naresh Mhaske (Shiv Sena) also supported him.
BJP corporator Milind Patankar suggested that legal opinion be sought. Mayor Sanjay More then decided that a legal opinion from an independent lawyer should be sought and placed before the general body for its decision.
Vikrant Chavan and Najeeb Mulla were present at the meeting today.
Suraj Parmar, who headed Cosmos group, shot himself on October 7, 2015. His suicide note said that some corporators and officials were harassing him for bribes and stalling his projects.
