CPI(M) state Secretary Surya Kanta Mishra today accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of orchestrating violent attacks on the party with an aim to eliminate opposition political parties from West Bengal.
The allegation of attacks on CPI(M) was, however, denied by the TMC leadership.
"The ruling party is engineering attacks aimed at eliminating the opposition. It has no right to occupy our party offices and attack our cadre. They have mounted barbaric attacks on hundreds of our cadre and supporters in different parts of the state. They are specifically targeting those party comrades who have acted as counting agents and polling agents," Mishra alleged.
"Party and mass organisation offices are being vandalised since the announcement of the election results," Mishra added.
He claimed over 500 local CPI(M) offices have been attacked since the results were announced on May 19.
Mishra also accused the police administration of implicating Left supporters in false cases.
TMC leader Partha Chatterjee refuted the allegations and asked CPI(M) to take lessons from the people's mandate.
"They should take lessons from the people's mandate and stop making such false allegations," Chatterjee said.
