The Tamil Nadu Assembly session will be held between August 24 and September 29, it was tentatively decided here today by the Business Advisory Committee.
The Committee meeting was chaired by the Speaker, P Dhanapal.
On the opening day on Monday, obituary references will be made about former members who had passed away.
Resolutions would be adopted to condole the deaths of former President A P J Abdul Kalam, former Minister Senthur Pandian and legendary music composer M S Viswanathan.
The session is likely to be stormy given the political scenario in the state. Continuing their protests, the ruling party has been demanding an apology from state Congress President E V K S Elangovan for his alleged derogatory remarks on a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. BJP also has held protests slamming Elangovan.
While DMK and MDMK leaders have expressed solidarity with Elangovan by calling on him recently, many other parties have criticised the Congress leader for his remarks. Also, demand for implementing prohibition continues at a feverish pitch.
Against this background from August 25 onwards, the House will witness discussions on demands for grants to government departments. Bills on important subjects are also likely to be introduced, debated and then adopted.
The House will sit for 19 days, excluding intervening holidays.
