DMK MP Tiruchi Siva today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam should respond to former Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao's claim that he continued to remain on the top post despite being replaced following Income Tax raids at his residence and office.
"Chief Minister Panneerselvam should respond to the claims of Rao that he still holds the post of Chief Secretary in Tamil Nadu," Siva told reporters here after a meeting of opposition parties against demonetisation.
Siva said, "His statements do not sound like a person who handled an important position in the government, but of a politician."
Rao was removed after an I-T search at his Anna Nagar residence, besides the premises of his son and some relatives, prompting the opposition parties in the state to seek his removal.
He was replaced from the top post with Additional Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan.
DMK was a part of the opposition grouping led by Congress which held a meeting today against demonetisation.
Siva said cash crunch had affected people from all walks of life.
"Despite the deadline, which the PM announced, being near, there is no clue about when the crisis would end. In the meeting, several demands have also been raised including the resignation of the Prime Minister if the crisis does not end," he said.
