Meanwhile, the state BJP celebrated Modi's birthday by presenting gold ring to a new-born at a government primary health centre at Purasawalkam here.

Party's state unit President Tamilisai Soundararajan said though the party had announced it will present such rings to all children born today, there was only one new-born today coinciding with Modi's birthday.

"I presented a gold ring to one child (born today). However, we presented gift packs to other new-borns, numbering 17-18, at the health centre," she told PTI.
