Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit today held review meetings with district officials on the implementation of development schemes, taking forward an exercise which has attracted opposition criticism.
Purohit, who had earlier held such meetings in Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore and Krishnagiri, attended a slew of events here.
The Governor "viewed the presentation on features of Nagapattinam district made by the Collector Dr S Suresh Kumar," a Raj Bhavan release said.
The Governor also took up cleaning activities under the Swachch Bharat scheme, administered a pledge under the initiative and inaugurated a blood donation drive, the release said.
Tamil Nadu Handlooms Minister O S Manian was present during the Swachch Bharat initiatives.
The Governor also visited the Shrine Basillica at Vailankanni, the world famous Christian pilgrim centre.

Local unit of DMK staged a black flag demonstration against the Governor for holding such a meeting here with officials including the District Collector.
The DMK activists raised slogans against the Governor and the ruling AIADMK, saying such meetings were "against federalism."
Purohit had faced protests during his visits to some of the districts in recent months with DMK cadres showing black flags alleging that he was interfering with the state's autonomy.
This charge, however, has been rejected by the Raj Bhavan as well as the ruling AIADMK and BJP.
