Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said that government staff and teachers coming under C&D Group will be given a sum equivalent to their 30-day salary with a ceiling of Rs 3000.
Many others coming in the A&B Group including staff in local bodies,teachers in aided schools and certain contract workers will be given an Rs 1000, he said.
Further, pensioners and former village administrative officers will be provided with an amount of Rs 500, he said in a statement.
The move will cost the state exchequer Rs 325.20 crore, he added.
