TN govt announces pongal bonus for its PSU, board employees

Ahead of Pongal festival next week, Tamil Nadu Government today sanctioned a special ex-gratia to the staff of public sector units and statutory boards.
Group A and B employees in the PSUs and statuatory bodies in the supervisory cadre would get Rs 1,000 each, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said in a statement here.
As for group C and D employees of statutory boards, an ad hoc bonus equivalent to 30 days emoluments calculated as on March 31, 2013, subject to an upper ceiling of Rs 3,000, would be paid for 2012-13, she said.
These A, B, C and D group employees are otherwise not covered under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.

Pensioners and family pensioners of the statutory boards and state transport undertakings would be paid a sum of Rs 500 each, the statement said.
