CB-CID was a premier investigating agency of the state known for its professional competence and a senior officer having long experience had been entrusted with the probe, the government said in its counter affidavit filed before a bench comprising Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice V Bharathidasan.
The counter was filed in response to the appeal filed by M Ravi, the father of 27-year old DSP Vishnu Priya, who was the DSP, Tiruchengode in Namakkal district and the Investigating Officer in the sensational murder of Dalit engineering graduate V Gokulraj. She was found hanging in her residence-cum-office complex on September 18 last year.
The counter said "the investigation is being conducted on par with any other premier investigating agency of the country...The agency is conducting a fair impartial and professional investigation without any interference from any quarters."
The single judge, who perused the status report filed by CB-CID, had observed that investigation was being conducted in a proper and considered manner and there was no need to entrust the same to any other investigating agency, the government said.
After perusing the counter, the bench directed the government to have the records available for inspection by the Court if necessary on the next hearing and adjourned the matter to the first week of June.
